Development Blocks (11) |
Baliakheri |
For 'efficient' administration and to 'ensure proper growth and development' of the District, it was thought prudent to divide the entire geographical area of the District into 11 Development Blocks. Dy. Development Commissioner, Chief Development Officer and the District Development Officer are responsible for the overall development of the Division and the District. They have many officers / Project Directors to assist them. Each Block Development Officer is assisted by ADO (Panchayat), ADO (Agriculture), ADO (Cooperative), ADO (Statistics), ADO (Social Welfare), ADO (Plant Protection), JE (Minor Irrigation), JE (Rural Engg. Services). बहु उद्देश्य कर्मी are supposed to implement the govt. schemes at Gram Panchayat level. If these many officers would have sincerely worked for the upliftment of the area under their jurisdiction, an entirely different picture would have been available for us to see, admire and feel proud of. |

Post Offices |
Urban - 23 |
Post offices have less and less role to play in delivery of letters and packets / parcels since a substantial part of their business has been transferred to private courier services. As per Post Office Act, delivery of letters is a monopoly service entrusted to Post Offices but illegal or not, the private courier services are being given more and more letters for delivery - at least by the businessmen in city areas. However, Post Offices also act as bankers - offering various savings schemes to the general public. People are tempted to keep their savings with the post offices because the govt. has offered benefits of Income Tax exemptions under Section 80 C etc. |
